Ready Or Not Console Review

“The Best Console Tactical Shooter Experience”

Note: This review will be more comparison than review or at least it aims to be I have a habit of going off on a tangent if you wish to see a full review of the pc title which is practically the same par a few things then look here.

About The Game

No one is a stranger when it comes to Ready or Not the game has been out for two year on Pc but now it has made its way to console.

Ready or Not is a tactical based swat shooter that sees player sweep buildings and neutralise targets, rescues hostages, disarm bombs and complete side objectives in order to complete a main mission objective.

Ready or Not is gritty and some mission can be hard to see but the developers over at VOID Interactive have put in some serious work to ensure the story is this way so the player can feel the severity of the events unfolding in front of them and what an amazing job they did.

The Station

After you have passed basic training (tutorial) then you will be let free into the LSPD station and I would recommend spending some time roaming around the different department as the developers have put some work into the station.

The top floor boasts some amazing story telling, on your left are the toilets, round the corner you have the offices without spoiling anything I recommend you visit the offices and the adjourning rooms for some secret stuff.

To the right through the swing gate you have the firing range which even after hundreds of hours of gameplay I still find myself throwing lead down the range. Just below the firing range there is a CQB arena which in all fairness me and the team just use this for PVP it’s not its initial intention but boy does it make for some funny moments.

Across the hall from the firing range we have a briefing room and a guy that ate all the doughnuts, besides this guy is a coffee machine check that out too.

Just a short walk out the right hand doors and you can find the armoury room holds so many cool things again you’re going to have to check out the room to find out what I’m talking about and maybe you can let me know what you find in the discord.

The Armoury

The Armoury is adorned with lockers and so it should be this is where you and your team gear up for the mission ahead. Entering one of the lockers will bring up a screen where you can customise your character, believe me when I say there is a lot going on here and you may feel initially overwhelmed so let’s dive into what is what here.

Starting out we can choose our primary weapon these range from assault rifles, sub machine guns, shotguns and if you pre-ordered the game the launcher.

Next week we have the side arms which will bring us to a list of pistols I’ll be honest I think most of the weaponry is personal preference given how fast the enemies drop within the game test them out yet a feel for what you like and roll with it.

Each weapon can be adorned with attachments a scope, compensator, grip and a flashlight or Lazer again depending on your play style. All this seems pretty simple but this is where things get a little more daunting.

Next week have armour you can have no amour, light armour, medium armour or heavy armour and within these you can choose where you want your plates and what type of plate you have, personally I run ceramic front and back but I have friends that prefer steel plates, do keep in mind the plates you wear affect your movement speed and each vest style give you a different carry amount.

On the next screen we can choose which items we want to be carrying you can choose mags, bangs, tools and more each one selected counts as one space used so if you have 11 bangs you won’t have room for much ammunition so be careful what you choose again it’s wise to build to your play style.

If you go across to customise this section needs little explanation you choose your clothes and it will change your outfit to your liking, each piece of clothing is locked behind level completion and ranking of said level most the watches are locked behind S ranks as  are the tattoos.

The Gameplay Loop

Once you have all your nice shiny gear on and you’re comfortable with the outfit of your choice because obviously you don’t want to look a fool while arresting the bad guys, all you have to do is head to the briefing room and from here interact with the table and the rest is self explanatory.

Once you’re inside the mission you will be able to check on the tablet to see what objectives you have to fulfil to complete the mission. Progressing through a map looks like apprehending suspects or eliminating the non compliant one, rescuing civilians and anything else that T.O.C wants you to complete.

The Censorship

Now I wouldn’t normally piggy back off this but the censorship in the game is minor and does not affect the game in any way at all.

Yes there is still gore within the game and enough of it too you wouldn’t even notice it’s been toned down unless you’re the developer obviously.

Yes the image from the bedside streamer draw has been changed but the image that was there before was a bit disturbing tallied with the lines said when interacted.

Yes the girl doesn’t vomit up no more again a very welcomed change, these things don’t really need to be in the game you still get the picture the raw and gritty imagery is still there and you’re very much aware of what is going on within the world.

Our Thoughts

We absolutely loved the console version of the game, we even thought some additions were even better than the pc version like the ps5 version has adaptive triggers pulling the trigger half way will allow for canted sights while a full press will bring the gun up into ads. These little features add a nice touch and allow for different play styles.

ultimately the game still has its core mechanics even with the changes and this game still holds a good place in my heart there for I remain with my initial Review score of 5 star that we gave the pc version way back when.

As always if you would like to support the Website we do have a tip jar no donations are required but are heavily appreciated and we thank anyone that uses this in advance.
