Quarantine Zone: The Last Check Demo

Note: this is an article on a demo and things are subject to change before the game is fully released.

Thanks to Brigada Games we had the chance to play Quarantine Zone: The Last Check early. In this preview we will go over everything that was covered within the demo from gameplay and mechanics to lighting and textures.

Loading into the game your met with the standard menu screen nothing is very different here, the game can be played with a controller with partial support however this can be changed with a little adjustment to the steam controller profile in your steam settings.

The game has you starting out in a very short tutorial this consists of you going over to the checkpoint and scanning a few people, cut to day two and you find that the tutorial is complete and you’re left to do things on your own.

The aim here is to check in all the patients and see what conditions they have are their eyes weird? Are they bleeding? Maybe they have a bite mark, that is down to you to determine. Once you have determined the condition of the patient you can either send them to isolation or liquidation.

Progressing through the game you will unlock more tools to use to determine the condition of each patient, however patient conditions will get worse and you will start to see, scratches, skin colour changes, respiratory problems and so much more. The way you deal with all these problems as a player is to use the tools to your advantage you get a scanning tool, stethoscope and other tools to help you out.

That not all the game has to offer though within the games days you will need to restock base camps generators and mess halls with provisions that can be brought with money by correctly allocating the infected patients.

Be careful when night falls as you will  have to  defend your base from hordes of infected you do this via a minigun and cannon that seems to be attached to a drone. Flying around the field and protecting the base from income swarms of zombies was really fun.

The game is graphically pleasing we didn’t see any frame stutters either and the game seems to be optimised really well. Lighting within the game is actually really well used considering you’re only within a base encampment, textures of items and surroundings seem pretty decent too.

Overall we actually really enjoyed our time with the game the lighting, textures and overall gameplay are really enjoyable. We are very interested to see how the game proceeds after the demo too.
