I want to start this review of Code Alkonost: Awakening of Evil Review out by saying thank you to everyone that has supported the publication thus far it means the world to us.
Developed by Alkonost Team and published by Alkonost Team.
Code Alkonost is a first-person, atmospheric adventure where Slavic legends come to life. Travel through a dark fantasy world and encounter the possessive spirits of the underworld. Experience authentic art styles and stories that have never been seen in adventure games before.
We played through Code Alkonost: Awakening of Evil, we were questioning certain parts of the game and other parts we seriously enjoyed in this review we will be covering the first section of the title only.

The game starts out with someone talking over images a bit like you would see in a souls game except here the voice over is pretty mid compared to the aforementioned, however over this mid voice acting there is an Amazing rock song without vocals but the guitar riff here is sooo good it had me rocking out.
We are then introduced to two sisters one of the sisters wanders off or gets taken (it was hard to tell from this point of the game to be honest) this leaves us playing as the other sister, as we press on down a winding path we discover the sisters backpack so you would assume she has gone missing but two seconds later you see her but in classic horror fashion she just runs off without a care in the world. Its work noting that the main character voice lacks expression and its really hard to get invested in the story because of this I am in no way saying the story is not interesting because I found it very intriguing.

following the women down a burning and almost abandoned looking path with bring us to a ritual site of sorts and after some absolutely amazing story telling we wake up in a house with a masked man that explains to us that we cant leave as the house shields us. the graphics in this house are a step above that of the overworld and I can totally dig the vibe of the house with the lighting from the fire. After we have spoke to Alkonost we have to find a way out of the house we are currently trapped in, this brings us to a dark and spooky looking wooded path way that actually really sets a ton compared to the first area. we encounter another person who chases us down a dark wooded path and we end up in a tower of sorts. This is where I leave the review as the story from here gets interesting.

Throughout the game you will be finding items to progress through the story think of resident evil how you will collect an item to press forward to the next corridor and so on there is a very similar system here. Occasionally when you progress to a new area you will encounter a cutscene that will explain a bit more of the story, personally I can get behind this because If i’m playing a story game i want it drip fed to me as I progress through the game. Code Alkonost: Awakening of Evil is current available on steam for £7.99 and at this price I would say its worth a play for the story alone. however I wouldn’t go into it expecting game of the year. Overall though the game is visually appealing after you leave the starting area but the voice acting lets the story down a little, Code Alkonost does have jump scares and at heart is a horror title.
