About The Game
Ever wanted to get into Mycology or is it that you just love to relax with nature and be one with the wild well now you can. Out and Aboute is a cozy foraging adventure about the magic of real-life plants! Identify and gather wild plants and fungi, cook tasty recipes, master herbal remedies, and rebuild your community after a devastating storm.
Character Creation / What ‘s On Offer
It’s no joke when you pick up a random mushroom and stuff It in your face, it could lead to all sorts of problems, at least that is one thing you don’t have to worry about in Out and About. The development team over at Yaldi Games knows their stuff when it comes to Fungi and I guess we can give them praise for the game development side of things too.
At the Very Beginning of Out and About you will be asked to create a character once your character is created you will be able to play the game so take your time to ensure you create something you’re happy with as I didn’t see any way to recreate once finalised.
There are some things within the character customisation that I feel players will not be too happy with however I will not divulge as it personally doesn’t bother me.
Now I only mention this because I see comments time and time again about people being fed this kind of content, people just want a game to play they want to feel like they can relax and just get away from the real world however the character screen feels like it brings day to day life with it.
Looking past the character creation however the game is actually very informative and what’s on offer here is an absolute abundance of knowledge of foraging and mycology now the developers do say don’t take this game as the holy bible but everything I personally fact checked was correct.
All this being said you are going to learn something playing Out and About and what better way to learn about something that isn’t generally spoken about in day to day life than chilling out with a cozy video game.
Quests & Exploration
Quests within the game take place in the way of interaction with characters around you that will take you to different places, these act out as a bit of a trail quest in a way however you can leave the path if you want to in certain areas. Some of the characters stories within Out and About are interesting too so the quests can become quite interesting rather than mundane.
Exploration is the main key here and where the game shines after all you want to explore to find the plants and fungi to add to your journal, using ingredients you find around the map you can cook recipes so amongst other things.
Graphics & Animations
The graphics within Out and About are really good they boast a cosy, colourful pallet everything around the world is bright and vibrant. Food objects, plants and fungi around the map are well drawn too.
Animations felt a little weird to me however the running animation where the character puts her arms out I thought was a nice little touch and is something we have all done at some point in our lives.
Our Thoughts
Out and About is an amazing little game if you want to find out more information on plants, fungi and recipes to do with the aforementioned. However there are some things with the game that just didn’t tick well with me, that’s not us saying it’s an awful game after all reviews are just one person’s view on a subject.
The games story and world are beautifully crafted and the knowledge you acquire from playing is actually quite satisfying to retain.
TLDR
Cosy game about some Fungi with quests, a colourful world and lots of knowledge waiting to be obtained.
