“A Spectacular Psychological Horror Experience”

About The Game

Luto is a psychological horror experience where you take on the role of someone unable to leave their home. Every attempt to escape will lead you deeper into the unknown, where nothing is as it seems and everything will test your senses.

Gameplay

I’ve been sitting here struggling to describe this game without spoiling it so I’m going to do my best not to. Luto’s gameplay is very similar to that of what remains of edith finch, in a way that it sees the play walking around and interacting with objects in the world.

However Luto is a deep psychological horror game that does what it says on the tin very well. The story is narrated throughout and this somehow only adds to the horror that unfolds within he games world. There are no cheap scares here either, the games world has been built to make you feel tense and on edge and that is only back by some seriously good sound design honestly whoever did the sound design over at Broken Bird needs a raise.

Sound Design

Where do I start the sound design and layering of sound within this game, has to be some of the best sound design I’ve heard in a long time.

I was so focused on a sound I heard that the air freshener going off made me jump, which made me laugh because I thought dam how did that even get me.

From the foot steps down, creaking floorboards to dripping taps and even ominous music. Luto has some seriously decent sound design.

The World Design

Now you can be the best sound designer in the world but your going to need an environment to put them sounds in, the world that Luto takes place in is actually one very much like we live in day to day infact it’s exactly the same.

Your character has just moved into a new home and the house is a bit of a mess but as you move through the house each day things will be different it’s worth noting you don’t go outside the house the second you touch the front door you spawn straight back in the bathroom on the next day.

Our Thoughts

Luto Is a very well made horror and it’s clear the developers have an understanding of what keeps people on edges.

Puzzles within the world are very clever and I had a blast trying to solve them. The sound design and world building within the game was exceptional.

Overall I would recommend Luto even though it comes on at 5 hours of play time if your able to zoom through it I’d still highly recommended it for the price.
