About The Game

Discover Japan’s legendary car culture in JDM: Japanese Drift Master! Take on challenging roads with refined simcade physics, immerse in the story through manga pages, and explore an open world inspired by stunning real-life areas. Every turn invites you to master the art of drift.

Gameplay

As one could expect JDM: Japanese Drift Master puts the player in the shoes of a delivery driver come drifter. The gameplay offers just that you will see yourself drifting around the city in multiple different vehicles however that’s not all that the game offers.

There are multiple different modes available Drifting, Drag, Stretch, and more. Earning money through different races will allow the player to purchase new vehicles while driving around and winning races in the vehicle will increase your proficiency with it, think of proficiency as a level up system the higher it is the more parts you unlock for the vehicle.

The car handling in JDM is beautiful there are multiple on screen hints to help you maintain drifts, changing direction on a drift or holding a drift for an extended period of time will net you a multiplier, higher the score the more RP you get, The More RP you get the quicker you level up your proficiency.

Customisation

Once you have enough Proficiency you can head to the shop and this is where you can purchase parts to customise your vehicle.

Now the developers did not hold back here you can customise your entire vehicle from spoilers and body work to under glows. Players can really take there customisations to the next level in this game, that is as long as the have the required ranking to do so.

Our Thoughts

Now I have left this review short on purpose because I personally did not want to butcher anything. The game itself is good and that is coming from someone that is very big on the racing side of things. The music choice within the game is amazing I found myself turning down all the car volumes to 30 percent while I left the music at 100 percent.

The customisation within JDM had me wanting more I will continue with the title until I can get the cool supercar I just want to customise it to be honest I think you could make something seriously cool with it.

I do have some issues with the game, well I say some I mean one. There is a lack of multiplayer and in a title where focus is heavily on customisation and drifiting why do we not have a little hub where people can drift around together. I remember playing GRID back in the day and you could challenge your friends to drift battles, something like this would fit so well into this title and to me it just feels like a missed opportunity.

Overall I would recommend the game if your not into racers then maybe the story is good enough to keep you engaged.
