Before Exit: Supermarket combines features from roguelike with walking simulator. As Supermarket employee you clean up damaged items, wipe up stains, and turn off the lights. Your task is close the store behind you, hoping that all tasks have been completed.
The Gameplay Loop
I have to admit the gameplay actually confused me at first but with the help of a handy little note from the developers I was able to quickly understand the task at hand. The note tell us that we need to turn the open sign to closed, close all the fridge doors, pick up all the rubbish and turn off all the lights prior to exiting the building.
Opening the doors into the supermarket you will see rubbish everywhere and fridge doors opening, grab your cleaning cart and get to picking up all the litter that the shoppers have left on the ground through out the day, it must be what it feels like working in a Primark.
Once you have collected all the rubbish carelessly thrown around the shop, you want to check all the fridges because you know when you get food out of a fridge the last thought on your mind is to close the door. After carefully assessing the shop and closing all the doors you will need to turn the close sign around.
Now turn of all the lights and exit the shop, if you did everything right then you wont be told off by the manager. However if you did mess up you will get a warning and have to do it all over again.

As you progress through the game there will be different things you need to do before exiting the supermarket this allows for some replayablity in the game which is nice to see, however that being said its not Take It Studio’s first rodeo with the Exit series and they seem to know what they are doing with the game.

Our Thoughts
The game has a fun gameplay look it also keeps you on your toes because you do not want to miss any items otherwise its back to the start and lets face it no one wants to start over. The variation of tasks makes for some really fun replayablity and we can actually see ourselves playing this a lot more. The game is a Roguelite at heart but this take on the already proven formula is actually nice to see.
