What The Game Has To Offer
Back to the dawn has is a story rich prison life RPG in which you play as one of two characters Thomas and Bob. Thomas is a reporter caught up in the middle of something he shouldn’t be Thomas finds himself in prison.
Bob on the other hand is an undercover agent who is sent into the prison system to uncover what is going on within the organisation.
Each of the characters has a storyline which are around 20 hours long each if your taking the game at a steady pace and interacting with the world around you, alternatively if your rushing through expect your play through to be much shorter.
The Games narrative sees you in prison as mentioned above, the prison is lead by 3 powerful but rival gangs so you can imagine what goes on within this story.
Back to the Dawn boasts some seriously cool quests according to steam there is about 100 of them however I wasn’t counting, along side this you also have multiple endings and mini games within the world.
One thing I loved about my time with the game is just how impactful each choice you make is, every choice you make within the story changes something so it’s critical you make your choices wisely.

Gangs Within The Prison
Inmates with Back to the dawn don’t just stay in one place they will roam around the prison forming groups with each other. Some of these inmate’s will teach each other skills, so if you rock up to find John (random name) he might not be where you expect him to be.
The prison has a plethora of gangs as mentioned prior in this review let’s briefly touch upon these. The Big Foot Gang are more of a fighting gang they run the weight pit within the prison grounds and also they put on underground boxing matches.
The sharp tooth gang is ran by a group of thieves who occupy the basket ball courts within the prison grounds.
And then be have the Black Claw Gang who run the prison general building they also offer loans to inmates across the game.
Each gang has there own store where you can purchase items from using money that you have obtained through the story.

Daily Life Within The Prison
Each day within the prison is set out via hours much like your normal day, completing a task or action within the day will change the time by minutes or even sometimes hours depending on the task that has been completed, it is worth noting that idling doesn’t eat away at the timer so stepping away from the game won’t chew through your day.
Throughout the game you will have to keep track of a few stats to ensure a smooth run of the game. These stats are time, body, mind, focus and energy.
If you let body and mind deplete this may lead to your character collapsing and wasting time on recouperating.
Time is an obvious one that you need to keep track on as there will be certain activities that take place within set times of the day in the prison.
Energy seems to work in a way that lets your rest period between activities be less.
Focus will give you a higher chance at re rolling on failed objectives.
Other than these stats there are a few other that you might want to keep track of however they are not as noticeable as the previously mentioned stats in order to see these one your going to have to venture to the character screen here you will be able to see the stats, the main stat we are after monitor is stomach/hunger as it’s one of the stats that can lead to massive time loss within the game.

Daily Routine
Each day within Back to the Dawn comes with a daily routine and it’s almost regimented this doesn’t change from day to day it is the routine we will go over this routine in brief.
The second you wake up you will have to part take in the daily head count which obviously ensure all prisoners are where they should be, next up we have labour time this section of the routine takes up the entire morning and noon and this is where you have your optinunity to make some money within the games world.
After labour hours the lunch hours of the game come into play and this is where you can eat to restore energy there is a free meal however better food items will cost you some of that sweet money.
Once lunch time end you will be spending the majority of your time in the yard and this is where you can socialise with other inmates, use equipment and gain buffs.
After yard time you will be sent back into the food hall for dinner, shower and use the TV room. Shortly after this you will end up back in your cell for lights out.

Our Thoughts
Back to the Dawn is a fully fledge RPG, full with quests, character building, stat management, trading and so much more.
The game remains fun throughout and the story is certainly interesting coupling this with the fact you get 60 hours of story over three playable character and you really cannot complain.
Character dialog is fun and the writing is actually bearable compared to some RPG out there.
Overall I had a fun time with the games. I didn’t experience any bugs or glitches through out my time with the game.
My only peev with it is I wish it was a bit longer.
