Welcome back to another totally out there review of mine, I hope your enjoying the content within the website thus far, we are looking at ways to have these reviews read to you and other means of bringing them to you in ways of visual media too. If your enjoying them however why not join the discord. Anyways enough of us lets dive into this absolute gem of a game.
Note: This game is still in development and things are likely to change throughout the course of the games development.
About The Game
In GLUM you play as a Goblin called, you guessed it “GLUM” now Glum isn’t one to take BS from anybody, Glum starts out living in a cupboard and is introduced to us by some rather stunning audio form the games narrator, during his escape shall we call it he finds a boot sitting atop a pile of thing without hesitating grab the boot and thus a legend is born.
The Hub
In the hub you can find a few different things, there is a shop in which you can buy upgrades for Glum via exchanging collectables that you find in the worlds you visit, there are several portal within the room and these act as different mission you complete one and the next one opens up after a short story dialog. You can look at your current reward card that fills up depending on the reward your currently working on I personally did not manage to find any rewards partly because I am blind as a bat. Cassiopeia is a floating ball cat thing I am not quite sure I am doing it justice that tell you the story as you go through the game, all of these things are contained within the hub itself.

On the Mission
While out on a mission you will have different objective to complete for example your mission might be grab two of these items or do this over there, you are doing these missions while dealing with the absolute carnage that is the combat your kicking enemies they are bouncing off the walls and slamming into lethal objects around them. From what I can tell all the missions end with a nice little boss fight.

The Combat
The combat in Glum is beautiful the animation on the foot reminds me classic doom which was amazing to see there are other references to games within Glum aswell. Glum can kick rapidly, charge a kick which sees enemies bounce off walls and allows you to get them again on the volley. Glum can also shoot his shoe and this makes for some really awesome ranged combat I personally used this to slap one of the enemies in the side of the head while I was sliding into combat. You also get the ability to stomp which sees items levitate a bit off the ground allowing you to kick items at a different angle. combining all these mechanics makes for some seriously fun combat gameplay.
Our Thoughts / Overview
Overall I would class Glum as a comedy FPS Booter with a dirty style of humour and I personally cant get enough of it you do not see many games take this approach now days. Certain styles within the game are reminiscent of old school gaming and it makes you think back to the good old days. The story within the game is appealing and the combat is absolute carnage. Glum has a reasonable upgrade system and a collectable system to keep you looking around in missions, this could also add replayability to the game.
